Letter from the President
Transforming Health Care Delivery
Major changes to the landscape of American health care are taking shape before our eyes. Health funders do not always agree about the optimal form these changes should take, but there is a shared commitment to improved population health outcomes, increased access, and reduced costs—and consensus that much work is needed to achieve these goals.

Views from the Field
Increasingly, the term patient-centered has been used as rationale for policies that entail high-deductible health plans, higher cost sharing, and shifting of accountability from the health care industry.

New GIH Report: 2017 Guide to Impact Investing
Check out GIH’s 2017 Guide to Impact Investing, which builds on GIH’s 2011 Guide with new information about the growth of the impact investment field, case studies of recent innovative investment techniques and projects, and an appendix on terminology, investment portfolio approaches, and strategies for financing impact investments. Impact Investing is gaining momentum in the field of philanthropy. Most recently, the Ford Foundation, a GIH Funding Partner, announced its plan to commit $1 billion from its endowment to mission-related investments to bridge the gap between philanthropic impact and investments, advancing the broader marketplace for impact investing. We extend our sincerest gratitude to The Kresge Foundation, Social Finance, Nurse-Family Partnership, and The Dorothy Rider Pool Health Trust for their support of and contributions to this report.
