Thank you  for your interest in volunteering with Boys & Girls Club Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton & Area. Through this application, we will be asking you to provide basic personal, demographic and contact information. Our agency uses information gathered in a professional manner, information will be kept confidential based on agency policy. 

Prior to starting the application, please take a moment to gather emails and phone contact information for your references. There are 3 types of references that are required, they are as follows;
            1.Significant Other/Partner or Family Reference. 
            2.Supervisor Reference (Volunteer or Employment). If you have volunteered/worked within the vulnerable sector please provide your supervisor/lead for that work.
            3.Personal/Friend Reference. Must have known you for minimum two years.

Bigs In The Community:

Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Youth in Care - Volunteers 18+:
  • One to one mentoring
  • 1 year weekly or bi-weekly commitment 
  • Access to a vehicle is needed  
PRISM -Volunteers 18+: 
  • One to one mentoring
  • 1 year weekly/bi-weekly commitment mentoring children/youth who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ with an adult mentor who also identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+
  • Access to a vehicle is needed

Site Based Programs:

In School Mentoring Adult (Volunteers 18+) /Teen (Volunteers 16-18):
 
     •  One to One mentoring 
      •  Weekly commitment of 1 hour (Monday - Friday, daytime hours)
      •  Supporting children/youth ages 6-18 with schoolwork and literacy

Club Programs Volunteers 18+:

     • Group Mentoring
     • 2 Hour, weekly commitment for September to December, January - June or full year

Agency Volunteer - Food Hamper Program  Volunteers 18+:

    • 2 Hour (12:00-2:00pm), daytime weekly commitment for 1 year
    • Supporting club sites with food hamper distribution
  • Club locations and days available: 
                -  West (16030 104 Ave NW)– Mondays 12:00-2:00pm
               -  Tweddle (8308 42A Ave NW)– Mondays 12:00-2:00pm
               -  Kinsmen (14803 88A ST)– Mondays 12:00-2:00pm
 
Tutors -Volunteers 16+:
  • 1:1 or small group tutoring
  • Supporting with Reading (grades 1-3) or Tutoring (grades 4-6) 
  • 40-60 minutes weekly or bi weekly, focused literacy/academic support
  • Sakaw Site (#10, 1275 62 St) Tuesdays (3:45-6:00pm) or Wednesdays (3:45-6:30pm)
  • West Club (16030 104 Ave NW) on Mondays from 3:30 - 6:00 pm
  • McCauley Club (9425 - 109A Ave NW) on Thursdays from 2:30 - 6:00pm

Game Changers Volunteers 16+:
  • Site based mentoring program designed specifically for male mentors and mentees
  • Weekly commitment of 2 hours 
  • Running at 3 sites currently in the city
    • Caernarvon Elementary School (14820-118 Street) on Tuesdays from 6:00 - 8:00
    • BGCBigs West Club site (16030-104 Avenue) on Thursdays from 6:00-8:00
    • Millwoods community location still to be determined
